ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIALS
We have combined design and sustainability to create quality clothing that is long-lasting, timeless and sustainable. To assume responsibility for our environment is not an option but an obligation, which is why we opt for natural fibers, renewable resources and recycled materials, such as organic cotton, linen and recycled polyester.
Linen is a natural and durable fiber that has a lower environmental impact than cotton as it requires less water and pesticides to grow. Linen is made from the flax plant, which cultivation produces no waste. Growing flax requires no irrigation, no fertilizers and no herbicides and pesticides, and therefore does not pollute rivers or groundwater. Linen lasts longer than other materials.
Organic cotton is produced without the use of any synthetic pesticides and fertilizers or genetically-modified seeds. Most organic cotton is rain-fed, leading to significant water savings, and organic agricultural practices also ensure that farmers produce more than one crop, which supplements their food and income and helps regenerate the soil.
Recycled polyester (RPET) is produced from used plastic bottles, using less water, energy and waste. Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum. It utilizes waste and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. By choosing recycled polyester, we’re able to deliver the same technical performance with a smaller environmental footprint. You can see the full process how we transform plastic bottles into swimwear here.
FACTORIES & FAIRTRADE
We are committed to fairness and transparency along the entire supply chain. This is why we design and produce every single piece of our collections right here in Portugal and maintain a close relationship with the people who turn our ideas into reality. We know our partners personally and visit them several times a year.
Fair working conditions, adequate working hours, a safe working environment, a legally binding employment relationship and fair wages for the people who handcraft our clothing are essential prerequisites for us.
PACKAGING
We have invested a lot of time and effort to make our packaging as sustainable as possible. We only use recycled and recyclable cardboard for both our packaging and labels.
